Your Bouclé Thoughts

I have been a little quiet of late owing to some slight indisposition which has forced me to the couch and some quiet time with a rug over the knees. An ideal situation for taking up the knitting.
I have acquired this bouclé and admire the dusty pink and muted lilac shades but ....

before I knit on and on,
I can't help thinking.....

Is it yarn appropriate for this?
Any thoughts?
Even though the ply is correct, I can't help thinking it looks bulky.

I have in mind that it will go well with fuscia, mauve and grey.
It's not the yarn that I fear to waste but the time is certainly more valuable.
Perhaps it is just suck it and see,
and perhaps bouclé will by it's nature be flexible and forgiving.

Have you worked anything in bouclé?
What did you make and have you loved it?

  1. I really like the pattern but I think the boucle is the wrong yarn. I think a non textured yarn would be better.

  2. Hey Tanya, hope all is well with you............nice to snuggle up on the couch with a rug, but not so much fun if you aren't well.

The yarn is a lovely colour....I've never used boucle before but I think I might agree with Jenny. I think the pattern alone is a standout so perhaps a plain yarn would be the go but it might be worth knitting on a little more and then making a decision. Not that I am a knitting or style expert not by a country mile, hehe.......

Beautiful Autumn weather here, but a cool change is forecast for tomorrow.......we're gearing up for the Folk Festival and the excitement is building.

    Have a great weekend,

  3. For a child to wear in the early spring, I think it would be cute.
Otherwise, I can't picture it. Doesn't mean it's bad, but I just can't see it in my (very non-artistic and unimaginative) head.

  4. Ok, since looking at that pattern I've decided I need to learn how to knit. It's the first knitted thing I've ever seen that I REALLY, REALLY love. I haven't a clue about what sort of yarn would be appropriate, but I love the colours in that boucle.

i have no opinion, as i am not a knitter, but i think that your hesitation is telling you something.
i hope you are feeling better.

  6. I love the pattern but I think the boucle is not the best yarn for the garment.....the decision is yours.

  7. It's a gorgeous pattern (think it'll have to go in my favourites too!) but I'm not sure you'll get the drape it needs with boucle. Although it's best not to listen to me 'cause I've never really been a boucle fan! ;)
