I wish they would stop saying Show day !

That florida weave method does work a treat, it doesn't crimp the stems, and an old italian friend does his like that.

Better start swatting up on my seedling ID ! I've got rats tails coming up all through my carrots this year :)Killiecrankie Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11306254588211569227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4669538441242490462.post-4009914101763299432011-10-17T13:15:05.838+11:002011-10-17T13:15:05.838+11:00Hey Tanya, interesting to see what you are plannin...Hey Tanya, interesting to see what you are planning for your Summer garden.

Your seedlings will be very safe behind their glass lean too..........great idea and I love the use of egg cartons. I have a few hundred cartons, lol in the pantry perhaps they would be more use in the garden as the girls aren't laying many eggs!!

I had a peek at the Florida Weave method of keeping tomatoes upright and it looks like a great idea. We stake them and then put a large wire guard around them so it holds them up ..........fingers crossed. It works quite well as long as the plant doesn't become to top heavy.
Today is lovely and sunny, Rich is on the ride on and I'm in charge of the edges and fiddly bits with the push mower..........

Claire :}Clairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09742003349610251189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4669538441242490462.post-78868566936184657762011-10-17T10:06:54.142+11:002011-10-17T10:06:54.142+11:00I like your glass lean-to. Which isn't quite the same is it, it allows for common sense, don't you think, so definitely don't plant tomatoes before the show and use your common sense afterwards.
I put tomato seeds in after the Show and some seedlings in late October.
I was also told by many older Launceston people that they didn't start lighting their fires or start their heating until after ANZAC Day and I always feel guilty if we need a fire before then.
And then my Grandfather planted and dug up his Onions according to the shortest and longest day - sow in late June and dig up in late December.Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06659929017085133209noreply@blogger.com
